about me.
Anastasiia Kovtun
Artist / Psychologist
I grew into an artist by running through village fields, stealing apples from the collective farm orchard and eating them with friends on the edge of town while watching the sunset. I grew into an artist by walking the path from my garden to the river, chasing kingfishers through the reeds, raising a firefly farm, rushing each summer morning to the strawberry patch in search of the first red berry, standing barefoot on the cool morning ground… All of this taught me to love life and to see beauty. It took me years to truly grasp the infinite value hidden in the ordinary — in the beauty of everyday moments.
I was fortunate to study at the National Academy of Fine Arts of Ukraine — a time I recall with joy. My second degree, in psychology and psychotherapy, deepened my path. I immersed myself in art, psychology, philosophy, and theology — seeking to distill them into a unified creative process. For me, art and psychotherapy are like two wings; one cannot fly without the other. One is spiritual, the other — verbal.
The most precious gift art has given me is the revelation of a depth inaccessible to ordinary consciousness. In art, we witness not only the external form of things but their inner essence. To create is an impulse, an inner urgency that resists control. I am not the one painting — I am the one being painted through.
Creativity is a Meeting — a space where something new and unique is born. It is non-being transformed into being. It is the Secret of the creative process.
